Title
   Why is Jesus our Saviour?
Speaker
   Rev. Jaerock Lee
Bible
   Ac 4:11-12
Date

God is the Creator, I AM WHO I AM. He is omniscient and omnipotent, and the Author of the Bible. I’m going to tell you why Jesus, the Son of God, can be our Saviour. The very Bible says, as the presider read just before, that we can be saved only through Jesus. There is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

Then why is only Jesus our Saviour?
In John 1:12, it says, "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." In the name of Jesus Christ, I bless all of you to receive the right to become children of God.
"The Saviour" means "He who saved the mankind" The reason why we call Jesus the Saviour is that he has saved the mankind from "the sin".
How did the man fall into sin? In the book of Genesis we find Adam and Eve, the forefather of mankind. Adam and Eve had lived in the Garden of Eden God had planted enjoying abundantly. God commanded them not to eat one thing.
He said "you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." As the long time passed, Adam and Eve couldn’t keep his commandment in their heart. When Satan tempted them, they took the fuiet and ate of it.
That was the disobedience against God’s word. Disobedience is sin and this is how the sin began. And as Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death," the wages of committing sin for a man is death, that is to say, he should go to hell, not the heaven.

How can we be forgiven our sins?
If somebody take the punishment of the sinner, the sin can be redeemed. Let me take two brothers for example. The younger brother had a lot of debt, didn’t have money to pay it back and was put into the jail. If the elder brother is rich, he may be able to pay back the debt of his brother. And if the elder brother loves his brother, he doesn’t want his brother to enter into the jail. Likewise if somebody redeem the sin of mankind, he wouldn’t fall into the death, the wage of sin. However, not everybody can redeem the sin. He should be qualified to redeem the sin. According to the spiritual law, he should be qualified in 4 things to redeem the sin.

First, he must be a man.
It says in 1 Corinthians 15:21, "For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man." As the sin began because of Adam, the man, it means, the problem of sin must be solved by the man. The sin of man can’t be redeemed by an anger or an animal. Jesus was a man who had flesh, bones and blood like us.
John 1:14 says about it, "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us."
God the Word came as the flesh, And that is very Jesus.

Secondly, he must not be a descendant of Adam.
The descendants of Adam are all sinners. Why is it that the descendants of Adam are called "sinners"? When God created a man, gave him the seed of life. As the seeds of life of the parents are combined, a new life is born. In the seed of life, all the "Khi"(spirit, energy) of parent is contained. The children inherit the sinful nature of the parents as well as the face, character or habit. The sinful nature of Adam, the forefather of mankind, was contained in his "seed of life" and was transferred to his descendants naturally. We call it "the original sin." That’s why all the people inheriting the blood of Adam are sinners from their birth. Jesus is truly a man. Jesus is the descendant of David, physically Joseph is his father. But Jesus didn’t inherit the seed of life from his physical parents. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit through the body of the Virgin Mary. Therefore Jesus is truly a man but not the descendant of Adam.

Thirdly, he must have the power to redeem.
If one want to save a sinner, he must have the power to win over the Enemy Devil Satan. Sinlessness is the power in spiritual realm. He must not have original sin or his own sin. Original sin is the sinful nature through inheriting the blood of Adam. One’s own sin is the sin people commit by themselves. But Jesus since the creation, has no original sin or his own sin.
First of all, as he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, he is not the descendant of Adam, has no original sin. He, from his childhood, live a life obeying the laws completely. He didn’t commit any sin until he died on the cross. He is the perfect man who did according to the law and accomplished the law with love.
Hebrews 7:26 says about Jesus, "one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners." 1 Peter 2:22 says, "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." Likewise, Jesus has no sinful nature at all. Sinlessness is the power. As Jesus has this kind of spiritual power, he could redeem the sinners from the enemy devil Satan.

For the forth, he must have love.
He must have great love to take the punishment of death on behalf of sinners. Jesus came as a man, was not a descendant of Adam and had spiritual power. However, unless he had the love, he wouldn’t redeem the sin of mankind. That’s because he must sacrifice himself completely to redeem the sin of mankind. The curse of sinners will be removed when Jesus is hung on a tree and died on it after bleeding.

Dear congregation!
Now we have learned that Jesus is qualified enough to be the Saviour of sinners.
Why is it that we can be saved when we believe in Jesus as our Saviour?
In Genesis 3:14, the Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your like. That’s why only the snake among the animals, without legs, crawl on its belly. And he said, "you will eat dust". The "dust" means "the man who is formed by dust." That’s why those don’t live in the truth become the food of enemy devil Satan. They fall into test or disaster becoming sick or facing with the accident.

And in Genesis 3:15, the Lord God said, "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." The "woman" means "Israel" spiritually. The "offspring of the woman" means "Jesus Christ". God prophesied that the Saviour who would crunch the head of Satan would be born in Israel. If the snake get hurt in its head, it’s fatal and leads it to death.

On the other hand, God said to the serpent, "you will strike this heel." If a man gets hurt in his heel, he can’t walk but be fallen. It is the prophecy that Jesus would be nailed on both leg and be crucified. Likewise, God said that the Mesiah who would control the enemy devil Satan would be born in Israel. Enemy devil Satan knew that if the Saviour appear, he would lose the power. So he thought that he could keep the power forever if he kill the Saviour when he appears. That’s why he tried to kill the men of God when they appeared by instigating the wicked.
When Jesus was born 2000 years ago, enemy devil Satan tried to kill baby Jesus through instigating the wicked. When Jesus preached the gospel, he instigated the wicked Jews and tried to kill him. As God didn’t allow, however, nobody could touch Jesus. When Jesus was 33 years old, Jesus was crucified. Now Jesus, who had come as Saviour, died. It doesn’t mean that enemy devil Satan has won the victory. Enemy devil Satan only dug his own tomb. Because the punishment "death" is only applied to "sinner". Enemy devil Satan, however, crucified Jesus who had no sin at all. He did it because he though he couldn’t but kill Jesus but violated the spiritual law as a result. Jesus, because he had no sin at all, could be resurrected.
Romans 5:18 says, "Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men." "One act of righteousness" means the crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus who had no sin at all was crucified shedding his blood on behalf of sinners. He who truly believe "the one act of righteousness" in his heart will live according to the word of Jesus. Then he will remain in his word, his word remain in him. He becomes one with the Lord. Likewise, anyone who becomes one with the Lord, as the Lord was resurrected, will not be reached to the death but will live forever. He will live in the beautiful and everlasting heaven with the Lord. In the name of the Lord, I bless you all to be God’s children and to live in the heaven forever.
