  Unnecessary Pride 2013-11-27

Pride is a sense of respect that you have for yourself such that you will not bow before others, but lift you up yourself. It is very natural for Christians to cast it away from their hearts. Before ruling over Israel, David, the great king in Israel's history, acted insanely before Achish, king of Gath. He put aside his pride while on the run from the King Saul who hated him. This was because he intended to go to the land of the Philistines and plan ahead for the future. In the end he brought them into submission. He even laid a tribute on them as a result of having set aside his pride and planned ahead. In the same manner, God will be pleased with us and give us blessings when we humble ourselves (Mark 9:35).
