Deacon Kyunsoo Kim (Senior Researcher of Korea Institute of Energy Research, Daejeon Manmin Church)



In early 2004, I was guided by my wife Deaconess Gyeyoung Ahn to Daejeon Manmin Church ministered to by Pastor Taesik Gil. At that time we hadn't got married yet and I lived in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province where I worked. On Sundays, I went all the way to Daejeon to attend church.
After around a year, a change was brought to my life as a Christian. I found it interesting and was absorbed in getting a better understanding of the heart of God and His will while listening to Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee's sermons in the Manmin Central Church's worship services broadcast simultaneously via GCN TV.
One of lectures on Genesis explained about dinosaurs. I felt as though the sermon was a 3D movie. The sermon series on 'The Message of the Cross' and 'Heaven' gradually instilled in me a love for the Lord and hope for Heaven. As I was filling my heart with spiritual things I naturally stopped going to see the movies that I used to enjoy doing and also stopped drinking without any regret.
My heart was renewed in that way, and I even desired to volunteer in the church. I worked as an assistant teacher in Children's Sunday School. As more grace was added, I transferred to a company in Daejeon and started to cry out in prayer every day. I hoped to fulfill my duty as a teacher better.
In October, 2005, I received Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer to get a job. In early December at just the right time, the Korea Institute of Energy Research located in Daejeon posted a job opening on the internet. I applied to the department of LED lighting and God answered my heart's desire. In May 2009 my wife and I got married after seven-year relationship and made a happy family.
In 2002, I earned my Masters at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, but I felt the need to get my Ph. D while working as a researcher. So, in autumn, 2009, I entered New Material Engineering Department of Chungnam National University. In February 2012, I was awarded a doctoral degree of engineering through research in the photovoltaic module that is used for developing solar energy.
Generally, it takes much time both to work and to earn a doctoral degree. But I finished the course in seven semesters. Many graduate students suffer from mental stress for a half year or a year when they have to complete their dissertation. So, my coworkers advised me to gird up my loins to study and earn the degree. However, I was able to get the degree without any difficulty.
It was all because of God's grace. God led me in the most prosperous ways while I took classes, did my assignments, and took tests. I prayed in Daniel Prayer Meeting every night. I read the Bible, and memorized the verse every day. I was not lazy in arming myself with the Word of God. I also fulfilled my God-given duties as a choir member, a Children's Sunday School teacher, a member of New Comers Management, and in the Education Department of Men's Mission. My wife said I did not seem to be in the doctoral program.
God blessed me to finish the course in a short period of time and He blessed me with a salary increase. Also, I became well-known in the field of the solar light power, and I have given lectures in companies beginning in 2011. I give all thanks and glory to God who led me to the blessed way both in spirit and body.
