Brother Taemun Cha (2nd Young Adults' Mission)


I started to practice taekwondo at six, but I was a relatively unknown athlete until I became a 12th grader. Due to poor grades, no college admitted me and I did not lead a proper Christian life. I could not help being stuck in a slump.
But I was given a scout offer by Korea Nazarene University because of my mother's prayer. She always urged me to become the best player for the glory of God as a Manmin member.
I met good professors in college and improved my skill through systemic training. It was helpful even to my Christian life. My mother received Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer before my matches and the family of faith prayed together for me. During my freshman year, I was able to win more than 10 medals because I took part in the matches after receiving Dr. Lee's recorded prayer on Automated Response System.
There was a selection match for the national team in February, 2013. I started in the 32nd round of the 58kg-weight class match and I was ranked in the second place. My mother joyfully said, "Dr. Lee prayed for you to become a national player. It has been done as he said."
Afterwards, there was a step I needed to overcome. Among three people who were selected as a national player, only one could gain the qualifications to compete in World Taekwondo Championship through pre-qualifying matches.
In April, 2013, I had three matches. I received Dr. Lee's prayer before the first round and I won the matches. But before the second round, I could not receive his prayer and I ended up being ranked in the second place.
I realized how important it is to receive his prayer and I received his prayer before the third match. As a result, I could advance to the World Taekwondo Championship as the best player in the pre-qualifying matches. Hallelujah!
Before leaving for Mexico where the 2013 World Taekwondo Championship was to be held, I also received Dr. Lee's prayer because I had already experienced the power of his prayer. I felt like I would win the gold medal. I was advanced to the final round with a good performance throughout the rounds of 16, 8, and semi-final. But in the final match, I competed with a player from Iran. I was losing even in the second round. Before the third round, I prayed.

"God the Father! I came here after receiving Dr. Lee's prayer. Give me strength so as not to be tired. Let me be calm, courageous, and swift. Let me show my ability wisely. I am committing my way to You. Lord, let what You want be fulfilled. Let me guarantee Dr. Lee's prayer."


I tried my best with faith that God was helping me. In the pre-qualifying matches, through Dr. Lee's prayer, in the first and third matches I won previous competitions I'd lost. So, I had faith to win the overall competition. In the end, I won 9 to 8 and gave thanks and glory to God.
It is only the grace of God that I could show off the commanding position of the birthplace of taekwondo and gave my school the first gold medal of the World Taekwondo Championship. I give thanks to Director Seungyong Han and all people who cared for me. Above all, I extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Jaerock Lee who blessed me with the prayer of the power. I give all glory to the loving Lord who has made my way.
